Tender includes the complete product through your first five successful customer payments. After that, you explicitly choose the £7.99/month subscription to continue using Premium actions. Payment-processing fees still apply, and Tender never starts the subscription automatically.
The useful bits
- Choose real, representative work and note where you still need a separate process.
- Check the whole journey from the customer record to the payment and bookkeeping.
- There is no permanently free edition; continuing Premium actions requires your subscription choice.
Choose work that represents your business
Start with an ordinary customer job you understand well. If your work naturally includes different situations, notice how Tender fits each one: a repeat customer, a changed appointment or an invoice paid after the visit. Do not invent transactions or split a real payment simply to work through an evaluation.
Write down what you currently find awkward before you start. Perhaps you repeatedly search messages for an address, or struggle to connect a bank receipt to an invoice. Those are specific things to check as you work.
Leave a short note after each completed job
Review the work while it is fresh. Record one thing that helped, one thing you had to repeat elsewhere and one question you still need answered. Keep customer details out of your evaluation notes unless they are necessary; a job reference is usually enough.
- Could you find the correct customer, address and agreed scope?
- Did the final invoice reflect the work and any approved changes?
- Was the amount and payment route clear to the customer?
- Could you identify the payment result and any outstanding balance?
- Which details still needed a separate message, note or spreadsheet?
An illustrative evaluation note
“Job J-014: the invoice was easy to find at handover. I still had to look up the access instructions in a message. Next time, I’ll keep the necessary access details with the job.” This is an example note, not a customer result or a claim about a specific screen.
Check the handover beyond the payment
If you use connected Xero or QuickBooks, check a completed invoice and its payment with the person doing your books. Agree where the record starts and who handles reconciliation. Keep any question about a correction, fee or payout attached to the relevant transaction.
Review the actual processing charges alongside the software subscription and any connected-service costs. Do not treat a customer payment as money already available in your bank account; check the provider’s payout information.
Make your decision from the notes
Return to the problems you identified at the start. Which now have a workable routine, and which still need attention? Ask the team about unresolved setup questions before making assumptions about how a feature behaves.
Use the pricing page and the purchase information shown when subscribing to check the current offer. Your decision should reflect the work you actually do, the cost and the routine you are willing to keep using.
